PI6 QuickTip #6: Splitting and Editing a Shadow

We all know how terrific it is to be able to add a drop shadow or a perspective shadow to an object, but many people don't realize that the shadow can be split from its object and edited independently. 

First, add a shadow to an object.

To split the shadow, choose Object, Split Shadow. Click in the base image to deactivate the object. Click on the shadow to make it active. Select the Transform tool. Now the shadow can be moved, distorted, etc. 

In this example,  the split shadow was move up and to the right, and the Distort option was used with the Transform tool. I right clicked on the shadow and chose Properties to open the Object Properties, from which the Transparency was edited.
